John attended the United Way Wiffleball Tournament Saturday at Barley Creek Brewing company.  A great success despite grey skies, John took pleasure in the home run derby and enjoyed the company of fellow community leaders.

“It’s always  great to see so many people come out for the community.  And in such a unique venue!,” John said.  “How often do you get to attend a wiffleball tournament?  The sponsors who came out in support of such a worthy cause are to be commended.”

The United Way benefit is one of several John has and will be attending this year.  He hopes to meet some of you at the next event.

Fundraiser/Meet-and-Greet scheduled for May 11 at Water Gap Country Club

MONROE COUNTY, PA–John Kahwaty, of Middle Smithfield Township, officially announced his Democratic candidacy for Monroe County Register of Wills/Recorder of Deeds last month, and promptly undertook the task of meeting the residents of the area where they live and work.

“This is an office that really has an impact on varying phases of our lives, from the buying of a first home through saying goodbye to a loved one.  A combination of professionalism and compassion assure taxpayers’ needs are met,” Kahwaty explained.  Though Kahwaty commended the staff and current Register/Recorder for their hard work, he suggests some changes are needed.

“The county has changed a great deal in the last decade.  With all the mortgage upheaval, and the changing face of our region, the needs of the taxpayers have also changed.  I am ready to meet those needs with both the experience to lead and the concern to work with residents one-on-one.”

Kahwaty is a long-time resident of the region.    After serving his country in the United States Navy, Kahwaty spent 17 years in the insurance industry at a Fortune 500 company.  He owns JN Entertainment, and is an active and respected member of the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce.  “I get great satisfaction from meeting with and assisting my fellow business owners.  Though the last several years have not been the easiest for anyone, networking and supporting one another have essentially kept many fine businesses open despite the economic climate.  I believe I can carry this attitude into my new position as Register/Recorder.”

He also works alongside his wife, Natalie –a professor at East Stroudsburg University—on their non-profit organization geared towards students and seniors. He fills his weekends with the pride of his life –his two sets of twins (girls, 16, and boys, 10).  One of twelve children, Kahwaty knows the value of strong home ties.  “We are a today’s family, invested in the future of our home and our children.  I want nothing more than to see Monroe County the beacon of success to our state.  I can do my part to achieve that goal through this position.”

I am the Democratic candidate for Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds.  I believe that this position requires leadership, professionalism, respect for the tax payers and a desire to communicate how this important office can assist you. With an infusion of new ideas and enthusiasm, I will work hard, listen to and communicate with the people of Monroe County and develop an approachable environment.  The Register/Recorder Office needs a new face and with your much appreciated support, I would like that face to be mine.
